This portable library of eighteen photographic flip books comes packaged in a brown box that opens from the side. The flip books snatch moments from lives both glamorous and ordinary and present them as a kind of collective animated portrait of Italy. A little girl eating a big chocolate ice cream cone, Mr. Lavazza enjoying his midday espresso, and a couple throwing a coin into the Trevi fountain go about their business with unselfconscious charm. Each of the 18 mini-flip books consists of 28 black-and-white photographs forming a single animation in classic flip-book style.
